Activating a Connector

Every ERP Connector installation needs its own licence before it will fiscalize anything. A licence is tied to the specific machine it was activated on. You can activate online with an activation key, or offline with a licence file if the machine has no internet access.

Before you start

You need an ERP Connector activation key, issued by the FiscoBridge partner you got ERP Connector from. Keys look like ERP-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. One key covers one machine — if you run the connector on two servers, you need two keys.

Online activation

This is the standard method when the machine running the connector has internet access:

  1. Open ERP Connector on that machine and go to the Licence tab.

  2. Paste the key from your partner into the Activation key box and click Activate.

The connector contacts FiscoBridge, downloads a licence issued specifically for that machine, and the status changes to Licensed, with the expiry date and the licensed email address beside it.

Offline activation

If the machine has no internet access, your partner activates the key for you and you carry the licence file across:

  1. On the connector's Licence tab, find Hardware ID and click Copy. This is a long code that identifies that specific machine.

  2. Send the Hardware ID to your partner. They activate the key against it and send you back a .pfx licence file.

  3. Copy that file to the connector's machine.

  4. On the Licence tab, click Upload licence file… and select it.

The status changes to Licensed, exactly as with online activation.

Offline activation permanently ties the key to the hardware ID you send, so check it before sending. If the ID is wrong, the connector rejects the file with "This licence file could not be opened. It was issued for a different machine." — and you will need a replacement key.

If the licence file is lost on the way to the machine, your partner can re-download it for you; that re-issues the same file, not a new licence.

Licence statuses

The Licence tab shows one of the following:

Status

Meaning

Not activated

No licence on this machine yet. Enter a key, or upload a licence file.

Licensed

Everything is in order. The expiry date is shown beside it.

Licence expired

The licence reached its end date. Get a renewal key from your partner and activate it.

Licence revoked

Support revoked this licence — usually because a replacement was issued for new hardware.

Licence not valid for this machine

A licence file is present but was issued for different hardware, or was not issued by FiscoBridge.

What happens without a valid licence

The connector does not break, and you lose nothing:

  • ERP polling pauses. No new invoices are picked up, and the log records "Polling is paused: the ERP Connector licence is Not activated."

  • The Odoo POS endpoint refuses orders. Tills get an error naming the licence status instead of a fiscal receipt.

  • The Fiscalized invoices history is kept. Nothing is deleted.

  • Invoices already queued stay Pending. A paused invoice does not use up a retry attempt, so once you activate, the backlog processes on its own.

  • The setup screens keep working — ERP integrations, tax mapping, the fiscal device test and the connection tests — so you can finish or check your setup while you wait for a key.

Moving to a different machine

The licence is tied to that machine's motherboard, processor and system identifier. It survives reinstalling the operating system, but not replacing hardware or migrating a virtual machine to a new host.

When you move the connector to different hardware:

  1. Contact support and ask them to revoke the old licence.

  2. They issue a replacement key for the same subscription.

  3. Activate the new machine with it, online or offline.

This is a normal, supported process — not an exception. Once revoked, the old installation stops fiscalizing within about 30 seconds and its Licence tab reads Licence revoked, including after a restart.

Where the licence file is stored

You do not normally need this, but for backups or support the licence lives at:

The file is only valid on the machine it was issued for, so copying it to another machine will not activate that machine.

Troubleshooting

The key is reported as already used. Each key covers one machine. If you are reinstalling on the same machine, activating again with the same key works and returns the same licence. If you are moving to different hardware, you need a revoke and a replacement key — see Moving to a different machine above.

The connector says "Licensed" but nothing is being fiscalized. The licence is fine; the problem is elsewhere. Check that the integration is ticked Active, that the header pill reads SDC Ready, and look at Fiscalized invoices for the error against individual invoices. Running the connector walks through the rest.
